Potatoes, chocolate milk, sloppy joes, pizza, etc have been staples in school lunches long before child obesity was ever an issue. In my opinion the problem isn't the food served in the cafeterias, but the sedentary life different leadership styles children lead. It seems to me that in the last 20 years when video games, tv, internet, etc have become more prevalent, America has gotten fatter. Perhaps more emphasis should be put on More
A very positive step and applaud the NYC public Ed and IBM (very opposing styles of management) coming together for the benefit of our students.
Companies taking active role in teaching will offer the students a combination of theoretical and practical experience. Solid, skills that can be and will be transferred into the work place.
Thank you IBM and NYC BoE for stepping up to this challenge.

I agree with both of you... but who's getting the bill? Ultimately when the conservationalists don't have money to pay 3 times what the property is worth, they turn to the the government. This is why patronizing parkland with public funds creates a huge problem. Conflicts of interest abound mixed with blatant favoritism in the workplace. A public auction of all federal lands would be a clear solution, may the highest bidder win. Bargaining More
Yes, i definitely agree with author and Indra that more women should e at top. Recently Capgemini India has positioned Aruna Jayanthi as CEO of Capgemini Consulting. In my Previous company, my boss was Chinese women Ms.Chris Tan. The Similarity with both these ladies is they are very clear about objectives and go to the deep of problem. Both are good at numbers and very calm about criticism.

I guess we have different definition of successs of success. Maybe my definition of success is too high a bar - individual responsibility, gainful employment and not living off the taxpayer.
Wikipedia's entry - written with references mostly from big-government entitlement advocates - describing success sounds more like treading water. MIke Bloomberg is as conservative on social matters as was the late Ted Kennedy. It's easy to be More
In my opinion, I think that all that sounds kind of brutal. Kids need to have some fun, doesn't matter if they are from West or East, but thats why they are kids! What do you want them to remember when they are 50 years old, sitting with their kids and telling them, how 'WONDERFUL' their childhood depression was! I agree, that they need to spend some time studying as well, but not letting them watch TV or even have some role in a school More
Steven, I am afraid that employers like you are part of the problem. The Comprehensive Immigration Reform back in 1986 created an enforcement concept that required employers to check documents while collecting information required for employees I-9 forms. Employers fought this action since it would have inhibited their ability to hire illegal aliens.
Now we have and should require E-Verify for ALL employees and improve the system. More
The author is correct in that the use types of marketing information makes the web a more useful marketing tool, which in turn allows marketing to subsidize services. Free services are much easier to use; there is a natural hesitancy to pay in advance for a knowledge service without knowing if it is any good.
However, the veil of privacy is pierced a bit too far. The technology exists to maintain greater anonymity. Regulations would More
The main problem at the VoA is not funding, but the lack of acceptance by it's managers and staff that they are a how to communicate effectivelyol of US Public Diplomacy and are to communicate the values of this country to people around the world. Most of the time, the news and commentary coming out of the VOA is closer to what one would hear from Al-Jazeera and MSNBC. The most notorious of the offenders is the VOA Persian Service More
